Register for this event to receive a link to a recording of an orientation session via email. The video is about an hour.
This orientation session is for any new volunteer interested in serving as a tax preparer in the Portland metro area with the MFS CASH Oregon VITA program or AARP Tax-Aide. In this orientation session, we will cover an overview of the two major volunteer tax preparation programs in the Portland metro (MFS CASH Oregon VITA and AARP Tax-Aide), the steps needed to become an IRS-certified volunteer, an overview of the training and support resources and courses available, tips and tricks for taking the IRS certification exams, demonstrations on the different programs you will use to certify and prepare taxes, and a look at the final steps to volunteering once you've passed the IRS exams.
If you are serving with the Impuestos Comunitarios VITA program, you'll receive an invitation for a different orientation session. If you are planning on serving as a client facilitator, interpreter, or intake specialist, please register for a Client Facilitator, Interpreter, and Intake Specialist Orientation session.
